World's first university with natural orientation means

The Universität der Bundeswehr München has the option to be the birthplace of the Munich Orientation Convention, an idea from a Munichian inventor to simplify and harmonize all orientation means worldwide: indoor and outdoor signage, cartography, postal codes, navigation devices and verbal expressions.

Within this campus, orientation just requires easy brain work, that means: you can find targets

- without maps,	- without names,
- without illogical numbers	- without arrows
- without floor marks	- without square grids
- without colors	- without compass or other navigation devices

Entrances, buildings, crossings, rooms, lifts, stairs, extinguishers etc. will have logical urban and/or local addresses like

which are easy to understand if you associate such addresses with a clock as follows:

Around the Marienplatz,

the centrum m0.

the horizon is divided in 12 directions

m1 to m12.

These directions are called horizon hours, whereas m12 points to north.

Horizon hours are divided in horizon minutes as distances to the horizon hour in steps of "blocks of houses" or 100 meters.

Example: m4:30

( read "emm four point thirty" or "emm four thirty" )

This defines a line in a distance of 30 x 100m to the direction m4, which points to Mecca. The convention for horizon minutes is: the greater, the later

Considering the distance to m0 also in steps of 100 meters, logical position indications StatusQuo© for buildings, crossings etc. come into existence, for example:

The prefix StatusQuo means "where you are" and MUN means Munich. In other words:

"r" comes from radius and is a numbering starting FROM m0,

"m" is a north-direction-based numbering AROUND m0

and this simple methode covers a gigantic market gap:

l o g i c a l and easy understandable p o s i t i o n codes.

and also simple answers to the simple questions "where?".

Even average people will be able to QUANTIFY positions, this corresponds to a QUANTUM JUMP.

Signage:

Such addresses will be integrated within the existing signage, see www.volksnav.com/lollipop, or be indicated on so-called Orientators©, the signage of the future:

Vertical Pointing©: additional to the logical position information, a round symbol called center pointer will be placed on their periphery to allow to detect the direction m0 according to the following conventions:

if the pointer is placed	on top (f12)	m0 will be	in front of you (f12)
	on bottom (f6)		behind you (f6)
	right hand (f3)		right hand (f3)

etc. Acc. to the same convention, a square symbol points to north = m12.

The picture right hand reveils: m12 is behind (f6), the Marienplatz m0 is right hand (f4).

Orientator©

Navigation / VolksNav©:

The local navigation with the help of such codes is called VolksNav©. As done today with house numbers, VolksNav© is nothing else than the major/minor comparison between "r" and "m" values:

Simply proceed according to 1 -2 -3 :

Positioning

Turn your body until m0 will be BEHIND. In this position,

ahead	will be	outwards
right hand	"	to later (clockwise)
left hand	"	to earlier

etc.

Beginners have to turn physically, after some exercises anyone will be able to do this by his imagination power. In case you look at above shown Orientator©, you'd have to turn to left, correct?

r-comparison

Ask yourself:

must I move inwards or outwards?

( = is the target radius greater or smaller than the actual one?)

m-comparison

Ask yourself:

must I move to “later” (clockwise) or to earlier?

( = is the target m later or earlier than the actual one?)

Let's see an example:

and you've lost orientation on crossing m4:30 r80,

so you must go

- inwards ( r78 is less than r80 )

and

- to "later" (clockwise) ( :32 is "later" than ::30 )

This may seem to be unfamiliar, but the orientation based on cardinal points is used for some thousand years and imaginary clocks are used by soldiers, boy scouts, pilots, blind people etc. for more than 100 years. On a real situation, VolksNav© can be learned within few minutes, that means, faster than the most seeking times.

Logical room numbers The same addressing methode can also be used indoor to form logical room numbers, see www.volksnav.com/emergency

indoor Signage:

Such logical addresses will be integrated within existing door signs, forming a so-called Orientator©, the signage of the future.

The 3rd. code "e" derives from etage / elevation and defines the floor over ground. Floors under ground will be identified by the prefix letter "u".

Acc. to the same convention, a square symbol points to north = m12. The picture right hand reveils: m0 and m12 are left hand (f9 and f10).

Remark: there are two emergency exits (f11 and f5). Today, only one option is indicated. What is to do if the danger comes from the one indicated option? A conflict will arise.

Another innovation: you'll find such orientators© also on entrances, elevators (!), stairs etc. with addresses according to the same methode.

Emergency cases: people who have found targets acc. to VolksNav©, are smarter. It will possible to guide them by mobile phone, loudspeaker.etc. (orientation esperanto) and less panic than today will arise.

Blind guide: ihe pointers and the position indication can also be formed for blind people.
